The new Tottenham Hotspurs boss Jose Mourinho has revealed why he joined the North Londoners.
In his maiden address after replacing Argentine Mauricio Pochettino at the New Tottenham Stadium, ‘The Special One’ revealed that the talent disposal at Spurs was the bait that nabbed him.
“I am excited to be joining a club with such a great heritage and such passionate supporters,” said Mourinho. “The quality in both the squad and the academy excites me. Working with these players is what has attracted me.”
Negotiations between the London-based club and the 56-year old Portuguese have been ongoing for the last three weeks and intensified in the penultimate days of Pochettino’s sacking.
Mourinho has been promised a good financial chunk in the mid-season and summer transfer windows to bring glory to the club which has endured an 11-yeat trophy drought.
The ex-Chelsea boss’s first assignment is on Saturday away to West Ham at the London Stadium in the Premier League.
