The internet has been thrown into a frenzy after revelations that the 2020/2021 Tanzanian Premier League champions will pocket close to five times more than what their Kenyan counterparts will take home.
Where’s FKF Premier League winners will win prize money of 5 million Kenya shillings, the winning club in the Vodacom Premier League will smile their way to the bank to get their 500 million Tanzanian shillings which is an equivalent of 23 million Kenyan shillings.
The second, third, and fourth place finishers will also pocket more than Kenyan winners.
Tanzanian’s number two will be sure of 11.6 million Kenyan shillings, 10.5 million Kenyan shillings for number three, and 9.3 million Kenyan shillings for number four.
Kenyan winners will be number five on that list.
This was revealed in the launch of the sponsorship deal with Azam TV which secured the official rights to broadcast the Tanzanian Premier for another ten years.
The deal which is worth 225.6 billion Tanzanian shillings, an equivalent of 10.5 billion Kenyan shillings, is the largest sponsorship deal to be signed in the region.
