Mohamed Salah scored a hat trick as Premier League champions Liverpool just made it past newly promoted Leeds United in a seven-goal thriller at Anfield that ended 4-3.

Salah and Virgil van Dijk found the net for Liverpool while Jack Harrison, Patrick Bamford and Mateusz Klich got on the scoresheet for Leeds.

Liverpool’s first goal of the game came under controversial circumstances when the Reds were awarded a penalty after Salah’s shot hit Robin Koch’s arm.

Leeds were marking their return to the English topflight after a sixteen-year hiatus.

Liverpool lie second on the Premier League log with three points, one place below leaders Arsenal who blew up newboys Fulham 3-0 at Craven Cottage.
