Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain put Liverpool up front two minutes after the half-time break with a powerful low strike before in-form Jordan Henderson converted Roberto Firmino’s pass to make it 2-0 on the hours mark.

Salah applied a simple chip-in shot over McCarthy after being served by Henderson to put The reds 3-0 up with 18 minutes remaining before he completed his brace with a last gasp goal.

The league runaways stretched their unbeaten run to 42 matches moving 22 points clear of second-placed Manchester City having played a match more.
