Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen is alive and stable, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed.

The Inter Milan man collapsed during their Euro 2020 opener against Finland in at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen and had the game stooped as he was attended to before being rushed to hospital.

Romano, an Italian football journalist who specializes in transfers, has confirmed that the 29-year-old is in a stable condition in hospital.

“Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta to Sky Sport after a direct contact with Denmark medical staff: “There’s caute optimism for the situation”. Denmark officially confirm that Christian Eriksen is now awake,” the Italian said in a tweet.

Retired Congolese footballer Fabrice Muamba who suffered a similar incident in 2012 turning out for Bolton against Tottenham Hotspurs at White Hart Lane, has taken to social media to pray for Eriksen.

“Please God,” the 33-year-old tweeted.

23-year-old in 2012, Muamba was rushed to the London Chest Hospital’s intensive care unit after suffering a heart attack and went on to make a full recovery.
