League leaders KCB laboured to a 1-0 win over Mathare United in their FKF Premier League tie at Ruaraka Grounds on Saturday afternoon.

The Bankers had to wait for a second half penalty to break the deadlock in an otherwise frustrating afternoon.

Former Wazito star man Derrick Otanga tucked home the lone goal in the 58th minute following a foul on Baraka Badi by Lennox Ogutu.

Frank Ouna is winless in six games since replacing Salim Ali at the helm of the Slum Boys on May 18, managing two draws and losing four in the process with Mathare United now in real danger of relegation.

Meanwhile KCB lead standings with 42 points, four points above 2016 champions Tusker who are away to Kariobangi Sharks on Sunday.

In an early kickoff match at the same venue, Nairobi City Stars edged out visiting Kakamega Homeboyz by a similar margin courtesy of a Nicholas Kipkirui second half striker with Homeboyz ruing a missed penalty, moments before Kipkirui’s winner.
