African Games Half Marathon champion Titus Ekiru ran the fastest ever marathon in Italy on Sunday, to successfully defend his Milano Marathon title in a new course record time.
Ekiru, clocked two hours, two minutes and 57 second to shove almost two minutes off his time when he won the race for the first time in 2019.

Compatriots Rueben Kiprop and Barnabas Kiptum came in second and third respectively for a Kenyan Podium sweep.
Kiprop clocked 2:03:55 while Kiptum finished off in a time of 2:04:17.
This is the fastest Marathon since 2019 and the Fifth fastest marathon of all time.

I feel happy with the time and now I want to go and rest then make a strategy with my coach again. I believe I can even run 2:01,” he said in an interview after the win.
