The Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani has been closed for renovations.

The iconic sports arena was officially closed on Wednesday and will be out of use at least until May.

This is in bid to hand the stadium a 300 million shilling facelift ahead of the May 2020 World Athletics Continental Tour and the IAAF World U20 championships slated for July 2020 in Nairobi.

In a statement seen by Kenyan Breaking, Sports Kenya announced that the main stadium, warm-up and training fields would be shut down.

All the sporting activities that were set for Kasarani will now be diverted to Nyayo stadium that will be opened up for use in a fortnight.
