Trouble is brewing at the AFC Leopards camp after club captain Soter Kayumba turned down a request by the club to travel from his homeland in Rwanda to Nairobi by bus.
The Rwanda international left Kenya after the Mashemeji Derby on November 10, 2019 and has been in his native country missing matches against Bandari and Kisumu All Stars in which Ingwe shared spoils and won respectively.
“… I talked to the CEO asking them (Leopards) to give me air ticket but they want me to come by bus. I cannot manage to travel by bus to Nairobi,” he argued in an interview with Citizen Digital.
Kayumba’s stance comes barely hours after Tresor Ndikumana and Vincent Abamahoro demanded release letters from the club citing non-payment of a three-and-a-half month salary arrears.
The 12-time league champions are feeling the financial strain since their main sponsors, a gaming firm halted its operation in Kenya in April this year.
Ingwe face Nzoia Sugar at the Mumias Sports Complex over the weekend.
