Rival fans have taken on social media to remind and mock Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson over his comments after his side’s 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid at Wanda Metropolitano in the first leg of their Champions League tie a fortnight ago.
The scot was less perturbed after the loss in the Spanish capital and took little time to lash at Diego Simeone’s troops warning them of the impending drub in the second leg.
“They celebrated like they won the tie after the game, so let’s see. They’re coming back to Anfield, we know our fans will be there,” he said in a post-match interview flanked by Virgil van Djik.
The comments came back to haunt him as holders Liverpool were bundled out of the Champions League in a typical Atletico Madrid fashion, sitting back and hitting when the need arose, Robertson himself missing a couple of chances.
The Reds produced a decent display on Wednesday night but were let down by their wastefulness in front of goal as well as a dismal performance in goal by Adrian who handed Madrid a lifeline by a calamitous ball clearance that landed directly to Joao Felix who set up substitute Marcos Llorente for the crucial away goal, that attracted another before Alvaro Morata added a third to see out Liverpool on a 4-2 aggregate.

“Andy Robertson ran his mouth, missed 3 sitters and conceded 3 goals then got knocked out x”
“Can someone send me the video of that f**king idiot Andy Robertson calling out atletico and telling them to “SHOW UP” at anfield?? how dumb could you get?”
Oh well, that didn’t age well for the Scotland captain.
