Strikes from Abdul Karim Nikiema and Sydney Ochieng in stoppage time of separate halves against Kariobangi Sharks were all that Gor Mahia needed to book a lost in the semifinals of the FKF Betway Cup.

The Kenyan Premier League champions swept aside Sharks 2-0 at Utalii Grounds on Thursday afternoon to join archrivals AFC Leopards in the FKF Cup semifinals last four.

Nikiema gave Gor Mahia the lead in the closing stages of the opening half to set them on course for the win, depsite a second half fightback from the Kariobangi Sharks. 

Sharks renewed efforts after the break saw them win a penalty just after the hour mark but Gor custodian Gad Mathews rose to the occasion to deny Sharks skipper Geoffrey Shiveka from levelling the scores from the spot.

Second half substitute Sydney Ochieng was on the end of a quick counter attack in stoppage time to secure a 2-0 win and book a semifinal date with Bidco United on Sunday.

Bidco United edged out Nairobi City Stars 1-0 at Ruaraka Grounds courtesy of a David Orem’s 21st minute strike.
