Former Harambee Stars defender Zablon Amanaka has been found dead in his house in Maji Mazuri area in Mwiki.
His death comes as a shock after the former national team captain made a public appearance on May 19, hosted by football journalist Bramwell Karamoja in an interview.
“Amanaka was found dead in his house. His last public appearance was during the Tuchapiane Facebook show on May 19th at 8pm. A proper player he was. RIP,” seasoned football journalist Kevin Teya said.
Former Kenya Breweries, Kenya Pipeline, AFC Leopards, Sofapaka and Harambee Stars defender Zablon Amanaka has passed on.

Amanaka who dies aged 45, played for a number of local clubs among them 2009 Kenyan Premier League champions Sofapaka who eulogized the former Kenya international as a true icon.
“Our deepest condolences to family and friends of the late Zablon Amanaka. During his stay at the club, Amanaka served us diligently and passionately, indeed the sporting fraternity has lost a true icon,” the club said in tweet.

After hanging up his boots, Amanaka was struggled to make ends in Nairobi’s low-end state of Mwiki, according to pictures of him shared in October 2020.
The cause of the mysterious death remains a riddle with reports indicating that he could have died a couple of days before his body was found on Friday.
