Former Manchester United player Garry Neville has taken a swipe at apologies made by footballers after missing a penalty.

Neville’s remarks comes days after Manchester United creative midfielder Bruno Fernandes missed a decisive penalty during a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa at the Old Trafford stadium.

“It’s embarrassing! They need to sack their PR people, speak with some authenticity and get on with it. I’m going to go big on this in the next few weeks. They’ve all got these communication managers, that are creating personalities that don’t exist,” Neville tweeted.

In the Red-devils league debut defeat this season, Bruno Fernandes missed a last-gasp penalty blasting the ball to the terraces.

Bruno has since been given the chance to take penalties by manager Ole Gunnaer Solskjaer despite Cristiano Ronaldo landing at the Old Trafford this summer.
