AFC Leopards secured a sweet 2-0 win over Bandari FC at the Thika Municipal Stadium on Friday afternoon to avenge for their 2-1 first leg loss at Mbaraki Grounds in February.
Bandari began the match the better side with the best of unconverted chances in the opening half as AFC Leopards slowly got into the game that headed into the break still 0-0.
Robert Mudenyu took just three minutes after the restart to hand Ingwe the lead, pouncing on a poorly cleared corner to smartly tapping in much to the dismay of Bandari head coach Andre Casa Mbungo.
Both coaches, Mbungo and his hosts Patrick Aussems of AFC Leopards called onto their substitutes, Bandari surviving a penalty call from Ingwe in the 54th minute after Elvis Rupia went tumbling in the box under a challenge.
Peter Thiong’o took the game beyond the Dockers’ reach in the 81th minute, nodding in a second following a sublime delivery by Washington Munene.
AFC Leopards who record their 13th win of the season remain third on 43 points but close the gap to Tusker and KCB to seven and three points respectively as Bandari drop to seventh on 33 points from 23 outings.
In the other match of the afternoon, Kevin Kimani and Boniface Omondi were on target in separate halves as Wazito edged out Vihiga United at the Nakuru ASK Grounds to rise to sixth on 34 points.
