The outbreak of coronavirus has led to postponement of biggest summer event in the name of Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games .

The event previously scheduled for 24th July this year will now take place in 2021 but will retain its initial calender name of Tokyo 2020.

In a joint statement, the organisers of Tokyo 2020 and the IOC posted: “The unprecedented and unpredictable spread of the outbreak has seen the situation in the rest of the world deteriorating.

While Tokyo 2020 remains one of the biggest event to be affected by Covid-19 epidermic, major sporting activities have been halted as the globe unite to fight the disease.

Among them include major football leagues across worldwide nations, postponement of Euro2020 to 2021, world rugby serries amidst four fixtures to completion , London marathon moved from 26 April to 4th October among others.
