Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli now says Kenya Tanzania are siblings and that the covid-19 pandemic should not give birth to a conflict between them.

Speaking in Singida Tuesday, Magufuli noted that it was important for the two countries to solve the escalating regional conflict stating that it was for the good of both Kenya and Tanzania.

“There are Luos in Kenya and Tanzania, Maasai’s in the two countries, there are Kuria’s in Kenyan and Tanzania, corona should not be the breakdown of the friendship we enjoy with our Kenyan friends,” he said.
Magufuli revealed that President Uhuru Kenyatta had called him with the sole purpose of putting to bed the border impasse.

The Chama Cha Mashinani Party leader has directed the country’s Transport Minister and Regional Commissioners to meet with their Kenyan counterparts to resolve the stand-off.

“We agreed that our Transport Ministers and Regional Commissioners will meet at the border and agree on how to work together because both countries need to do business,” he said.

Magufuli has however maintained that he will not press the lockdown button.
