National Assembly leader Majority Amos Kimunya has made an about-turn and now says he will not relinquish the post as pressure mounts on him following 100% loss by Jubilee in the recently concluded by-elections.

Prior to the mini-polls, the Kipipiri legislator issued a statement saying he will resign from the leadership role in parliament if the ruling party lost Rurii and Juja by-elections.

Jubilee lost to United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in Rurii and People Empowerment Party (PEP) in Juja and in a dramatic turn of events, the former minister of trade now says he will not step down.

“I have seen comments on the statement I made that I would resign if Nyandarua people let me down. Unfortunately, I did not consult the people of Kipipiri who I represent when I made the statement and this is a fundamental issue that requires public participation,” said Kimunya.

Termed as the MP with double-stand, netizens observed that it was not the first time the experienced lawmaker issued threats to resign while in government, threats that have never materialized.

” Huyu jamaa Kimunya tumemzoea na hiyo tishio yake ya ku resign. There’s a time he even chose death over resigning. Fortunately l think someone advised him what death is & instead he resigned,” one KOT by the name Cyrius Thairu2 said.
