Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday termed himself as one of former president Daniel arap Moi’s son, though politically.
In a recorded exclusive interview with Citizen TV’s Waihiga Mwaura in his Karen residence, Ruto who was one of the youthful in 1992, then called ‘Young Turks’ he has all but to thank Moi for his so far successful political journey.
“Moi brought up his family. By that I mean his biological children and political children like me. I am his political son,” Ruto said in a tribute to Moi who passed on at Nairobi Hospital on Tuesday.
The DP however refused to be drawn into supremacy wars in the sendoff program for the former president, laughing off rumours of his sidelining.
“I don’t want to go that route. The talk by itself is petty. if you want to know my role in the burial go and read the constitution,” he said.
Moi will be laid to rest on Wednesday next week at his Kabarak home in Nakuru county.
