As plans are underway for preparation of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) rally to be held in Tononoka tomorrow in Mombasa, there is a looming confusion among those anti and those for the Building Bridges, after today youths pelted MPS Aisha Jumwa and Mohammed Ali with stones chasing them away.
This wrangles between members of Parliament allied DP Ruto who are perceived to opposing the BBI and those allied to President Kenyatta and Raila Odinga has had many reaction from political analyst concluding that the initiative was for personal benefit not national integration.
Jumwa and Mohammed were holding a press conference ahead of what they are to talk tomorrow at the rally before they were interrupted by youths, whom they say have been hired by other politicians.
Nyali MP Ali said that if BBI is for the uniformity of all Kenyans and those from the coastal in particular, their meeting should be held in fair ground without bias and calling some leaders and having meeting backdoors.
“BBI kama wanasema ni ya kuunganisha wapwani lazima iwaunganishe wapwani, kama ni ya waunganisha wakenya, lazima iwaunganishe wakenya, mikutano zinafanyika kando kando…….”
Ali reiterated that they are the leaders of tomorrow in coastal regions, and therefore they should allowed to address their issues concerning them, if handshake was real.
On the part of the Malindi MP, Aisha Jumwa urged for the committee in charge of the initiative to stop holding rallies for BBI if public resources is the one being used, saying everyone is supporting the initiative.
Last week a relative meeting was held the Bukhungu stadium, Kakamega to discuss the same, but unfortunately the meeting turned out to discussion of some individuals believed to be sabotaging the government.
On his Twitter handle, Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen sensationally claimed that some people are planning to humiliate leaders allied to Deputy President Ruto during the Coast region BBI event.
During an Interview on NTV, the deputy president Dr William Ruto reiterated the same saying if BBI was for the people of Kenya, he had no objection. However he was stranded on the issue of using public funds for the rallies going around in various parts of the country.
“BBI is Kenyans people program……..it is your opportunity to make your contribution, to give your opinion , to give suggestion on how to take Kenya forward.”
