A suspect of robbery with violence in Kapsaret, Uasin Gishu has taken his own life by cutting his throat with a knife to avoid police arrest.
The suspect part of a four-member gang that attacked and robbed a bodaboda rider his bicycle on Tuesday, pouncing on him with machetes, leaving him unconscious.
The victim later regained consciousness and alerted the police who together with members of the public launched a manhunt for the dreadful gang aided by a tracker on the motorcycle.
Zedrick Mulama, Robert Safari and Silas Lugalia were all nabbed and three other motorcycles recovered from them, which are also believed to have been stolen from the locals.
Upon interrogation the three led the police to the home of the fourth suspect who on seeing the officers took away his life by cutting his throat open by a kitchen knife to avoid the impeding arrest.
The three suspects are being held by police awaiting arraignment.
