Coronavirus cases have hit 1029 after a record high 66 new cases of the novel virus were confirmed on Wednesday afternoon.
This is the highest number of covid-19 cases confirmed in a single day in Kenya.
Of the confirmed cases, 64 are Kenyans while two are foreigners.
The youngest patient is 10 years old while the eldest is 64 years old; 43 males and 23 females.
The country tested 2,621 samples between Tuesday and Wednesday taking to 49,405 the number of samples tested in the country since the first covid-19 case was reported on March 13.
The new cases are distributed in the 10 counties of Mombasa (30), Nairobi (26) Kajiado (3), Busia (1), Kisii (1), Uasin Gishu (1) Nakuru (1) Kirinyaga (1) Makueni (1) and Meru (1).
Both Kajiado and Busia had their cases confirmed at the border points.
The recovery toll has risen to 366 after eight more patients were discharged from hospital.
