A very insightful weekend has come to an end as we were treated to stories and shows of how a governor of Meru and a senator of Busia survived covid.
They talk of good top notch doctors at NAIROBI hospital and Aga Khan hospitals who took care of them. Kiraitu boasts of Dr. Silverstein, former president Moi doctor who was attending to him. He talks of oxygen tanks and a personal nurse in his home for two weeks. Wako talks of top notch drugs he was put on.
We thank God they survived to tell the story. But no one is telling us how much it cost Kiraitu or Wako for the top notch drugs, doctors, nurses, hospitals etc?
Questions linger. Wako is a senator. One of the wealthiest people from Western Kenya. His county of Busia is the worst thing that happened to mankind when it comes to medical care. No drugs, no medical stuff. No isolation centers. You may recall a trending picture of a woman and her baby in Busia who was taken to an isolation center without beddings. If covid gets you in Busia, chances are you are dead especially if you depend on county got health facilities. Wako and his deep pockets has nothing to show people of Busia. I said nothing.. Apart from his palatial home.
In Meru where Kiraitu is governor, his own wife is LISTED among the few privileged Kenyans who benefited from the KEMSA scandal. She got a tender of 45 million to hot supply air. Most likely part of the loot may have been used to treat her hubby.
In Meru you are dead on arrival if you check in a facility run by Kiraitu govt. That’s why when he fell sick he was taken to NAIROBI …
Kenyans need to stop marvelling at how the rich and mighty enjoy medical privileges when they fall sick. The question we should ask Kiraitu and Wako is.. If a poor teacher like me or a common mwananchi in Busia or Meru catches covid the way the two wealthy leaders did… WILL we GET SIMILAR MEDICAL CARE? Truth is many Kenyans in similar situation like WAKO will DIE.
And now that Wako and Kiraitu survived, what do they plan to do for their subjects to also survive? What laws will Wako place before the senate to cushion Kenyans from corruption at KEMSA and county govts that denies Kenyans quality services?
Otherwise those testimonies ni panganganga tupu ya matajiri wakichekelea maskini.
