Parliamentary Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC) chairman Muturi Kagano has backed the newly appointed Chisf Justice Lady Martha Koome to restore tranquility between the Judiciary and executive.
Koome was on Wednesday 19th May approved as the next Chief Justice by The National Assembly following her appointment by Judicial Service Commission on May 7th 2021. Earlier on Wednesday, in a special session, JLAC hand approved the appointment of Koome.
Lady Justice Koome has been in legal field for about 33 years and was among the ten applicants interviewed for the Judiciary presidency meant to succeed emeritus Chief Justice David Maraga.
Her experience was among the factors that propelled her above other applications which according to Kangema MP , it will come in hand when dealing with the two arms of government.
“Koome is a wife, mother and comes from a firm family background, her wide experience in family law, children rights will be priceless, she also has a vision to revolutionize judiciary and eliminate corruption,” said Kagano.
Kagano further expressed his trust in the first female Chief Justice to get rid is corrupt dealings within the institution.
