Former Imenti Central MP Gideon Mwiti has passed on aged 57 after a short illness.
The former legislator died on Sunday morning after being rushed to a Nairobi hospital with diabetes-related complications, reports indicate.
Mwiti was elected to Parliament in 2013 on a Jubilee ticket and served until 2017 when he retired from active politics in 2017 to venture into the corporate world.
The former lawmaker was in 2015 faced allegations of raping a woman in Nairobi and charged alongside David Muchiri, a doctor.
The police accused Muchiri of aiding and abetting the crime.
Condolence messages continue to trickle in following the demise of the one-term legislator.
“Mwiti was a dedicated leader who served his people well,” Tigania West MP John Mutunga is quoted by The Star.
