The government has lifted the order barring movement into and out of the disease infested counties of Nairobi, Kiambu, Kajiado, Machakos and Nakuru.

In his Labour Day address at State House Nairobi, President Uhuru Kenyatta said the decision has been taken following the advice of the national security council.

“With regards to the zoned areas comprising of the counties of Nairobi, Kiambu, Kajiado, Machakos and Nakuru it is directed that the cessation of movement into and out of the zoned areas be and is here by lifted,” said President Kenyatta.

The head of state also revised the curfew hours, in what seems like a heed to the cries of Kenyans who believed the 8PM curfew was doing them more harm than good.

“The hours of curfew in the zoned area are revised to commence at 10PM and will end at 4am with effect from midnight May 1, 2021 until otherwise directed,” he added.

The President also allowed the reopening of bars in the five counties, but directed that all bars in the country be closed by 7PM.

Among other directives, he allowed the resumption of churches but limited to a third.
