At least five people have been killed in a road accident at the
Rupingazi Bridge on the Meru-Embu highway.
The accident occurred after two 14-seater matatus collided head-on leaving scores of others nursing serious injuries.
According to the Embu County Commissioner Abdullahi Galgalo the two vehicles were headed in opposite directions- one was coming from Nairobi and other was headed to the capital city- when the accident occurred.
“We urge our drivers to exercise caution especially as we approach the Christmas season. We will also ensure that the police ensure that all traffic rules are observed to the letter,” he issued a rallying call.
The casualties have been rushed to Embu Level Five hospital for treatments as a huge traffic snarl-up is experienced on the busy route.
