Two people have died following a suspected case of food poisoning in Baringo.
Baringo CEC Health Mary Panga says the two, Baringo farm workers succumbed while receiving treatment at Baringo Referral Hospital.
Seventeen others who were working at a farm in Iltepes were rushed to the hospital after complaining of stomach pains and vomiting after eating githeri, some still in critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Aflatoxin in the githeri is reported to be the cause as police speed up the investigation to unravel the source of the poisoning.
According to Baringo County Commissioner Henry Wafula, samples have been taken to the Government Chemist for further tests.
