Police on Sunday gunned down three suspected gangsters along Ladhies Road in Kamukunji, Nairobi.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the three were in a gang of four were on a mission to commit a crime and were gunned down after allegedly refusing to surrender when they were approached by the police.

The fourth suspect managed to escape during the afternoon shootout.

“A combined team of police officers based at Kamukunji, acting on a tip off from the public on notorious criminals on a mission to commit crime managed to intercept them along Ladhies road where they were challenged to surrender but instead shot at our officers,” the DCI said.

The statement continues,

“A fierce shoot out ensued whereby three suspects were fatally wounded as the fourth one escaped towards Muthurwa.”

Two pistols, a pen-knife and four rounds of ammunition were recovered from the suspects.

The hunt for the fourth suspect is on.
