The demolition excise which commenced on Friday 23rd April, has left over 5,000 families in Embu County homeless.

The mass demolition exercise conducted by the Tana and Athi Rivers Development Authority (TARDA) was backed by the authority who argue it was necessary as they were reclaiming what is termed as riparian land.

Despite complains from the residents, the exercise was seen through leaving business men and women counting losses while families lost their homes.
