Two police constables have been arrested in Nairobi by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations following a botched robbery attempt.

Ali Shukri Galgalo of Quarry Police Post and Abdikadir Daiwo of Muthaiga Police Station were arresetd after the attempted to rob an Uber driver on Saturday night.

According to DCI, the two suspects boarded the Uber vehicle, forced the driver to sit at the back seat, and commandeered the vehicle towards Eastleigh instead of Pangani that they had requested.

At Kilimanjaro round about, the vehicle crashed and stalled, forcing them to attempt to escape on foot but were quickly arrested, the statement posted on Twitter by the DCI reads.

They are in lawful custody awaiting arraignment on Monday.
