Following a series of security concerns along the Southern by pass , Director of Criminal Investigation DCI, took action leading to the apprehension of six suspects on Wednesday 26th May.
Through their Twitter handle, DCI communicated they they had arrested the six following a raid made by the sleuth in a follow up made by a a victim who reported the matter to Langa’ata police station after the incident.
“Six armed and dangerous gangsters who have been violently attacking and robbing motorists off their valuables along the Southern bypass, have been arrested.” DCI stated.

Tom Onyango, one of the victims, filed a report at Langa’ata station, he is said to have been robbed a few meters from the virtual weigh bridge on his way from Nakuru to Nairobi. Onyango, who was with his son, noted that the incident happened when he stopped his vehicle, a silver Mercedes Benz to let his son answer a call of nature.
Lang’ata OCPD Benjamin Mwanthi indicated that the station had as of last week file more then two reports of mugging and robbery incidents.
The DCI has further called upon affected motorists to file report with the police and assist in indentifying the suspects in police custody within seven days.
