At least 14 police officers in different security departments have been rendered jobless for breaching laws during the enforcement of curfew.

The Cabinet Secretary for Interior Fred Matiang’i while appearing before the Parliamentary Committee on the implementation of laws, stated that no police officer is allowed to break the laws while at the same time enforcing another law.

“There are some cases we have come across where members of our own security have acted against what is expected, we have disciplined them.”

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe who was in accompany of the Interior CS however, reiterated that the laws will continue being enforced for the better part of the country in fight against Covid 19.

Law enforcement officers have been accused of arresting citizens forcefully, taking bribes from them, brutal beating and those who decline are forcefully quarantined.

While appearing before the Special Senate Committee earlier today, the Interior Security CAS Hussein Dhadho noted that 38 police officers, 10 General Service Unit(GSU) and 8 prison officers are among the more than 1200 people who have been arrested and quarantined for breaking the curfew laws.
