Hard times call for desperate measure. K24 employees are in for another shocker amidst the mass lay off plan streamlined by the Mediamax management as they claim it’s a survival tactic during this pandemic times.
Reliable source from one of the employees intimate that starting June, The Kijabe based TV station will be streaming it’s on hour news from Standard Group KTN.
“The graphic guys have already finalized the necessary bumpers and montage for K24/KTN needed for take off, the only remaining thing is to go on air” said the employee who sought anonymity.
The source who spoke to Kenyan Breaking further states that the new face of K24 will see much of the programmes scrupped off with only Punchline show hosted by ex Citizen journalist Anne Kiguta escaping the purge.
The moves comes a time when mediamax employees are facing uncertainty in their job security having been submitted with new contracts where there monthly salary were subjected to a reduction of upto 50%. This led to majority of the high earners heading to labour court.
“owing to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic, that has had adverse effects on its revenue streams, it shall reorganize its staff structure and abolish some positions as part of its cost optimization,” part of the letter reads.
With the ruling still pending, the employees are yet to receive their monthly basic pays from April May and as per those who spoke to Kenyan Breaking June is no exception.
